Mining

2019 marked 100 years since the first coal was extracted from both the State Mine and Bowen Consolidated Coal Mine in Collinsville, and what a century it has been! Battles have been won and lost above and below the surface, and a community has grown to support and embrace an industry that is still the lifeblood of the town. The sacrifice of the Collinsville and Scottville miners and their families has ultimately revolutionised coal mining globally.
